EasyLiving & Accessible Home Builder
Accessibility means your home is easier for you to navigate and live in and easier for your guests to visit, regardless of age, size or physical capability. It means that you can stay in your own home as you become older. Your home is a safer place for all. An EasyLiving Home incorporates several accessibility and Universal Design features so that you can gracefully “Age in Place” and not have to move due to an illness or disability. An EasyLiving Home also qualifies for the Virginia Livable Homes Tax Credit of up to $5000.
We can build a new home or modify an existing home to make it accessible for all. Doorways and hallways are wider. Electrical receptacles and light switches are within easy reach. Knobs on the stove are on the front. There are no steps as the entrances are level. You won’t even have to lift a foot to get in the shower. If you live in a two story home, we can add an elevator or stair lift.
If you build or modify your home to be like this, you can live in place gracefully into old age. You and your loved ones can spend a lifetime in your home.
Stephen Thomas Homes is committed to helping everyone understand the concepts of Accessibility, Universal Design, and the EasyLiving Home, and strives to demonstrate how these concepts benefit homeowners by inclusion in new home construction, additions, renovations and home modifications.
